Rugby Rules – Welsh Rugby Union (WRU)

Welsh Rugby Union (WRU)

The main authority in Welsh rugby, the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) governs the development of coaches, referees, and players of all ages for men and women. WRU provides a mechanism which allows for “equitable games and the playing of all squad members.” WRU likewise encourages coaches and parents emphasize “development” rather than “winning”, as the main purpose for playing rugby.

It is recognized by the International Rugby Board, and oversees the Welsh national team, leagues, and cups. WRU also governs regional teams participating in the Celtic League, European Rugby, and European Rugby Shield competitions.
